The West Caucasian tur is endangered in its natural habitat in Georgia and Western Russia, with only an estimated 5,000 left in the wild. Standing at about three and a half feet tall at the shoulders and weighing approximately 140 lbs., West Caucasian turs are a medium-sized goat-antelope with short legs and narrow bodies. The male’s scimitar-shaped horns can grow to nearly 30 inches.
The West tur’s native habits range from roughly 2,600 ft. of elevation all the way up to 13,100 ft.
