Transcaspian Urial

Transcaspian Urial Sheep Hunting Near Dallas, TX

Male Transcaspian urial, a unique member of the urial family, have massive curling horns that can reach up to nearly 40 inches long. A mature male stands at between 30 and 35 inches at the shoulder. Of all the urial variations, Transcaspian horns tend to be the most striking and highly desired.

Age and horn size are important indicators of hierarchical status among urials. The species, which has become rare in its native Central and South Asia grasslands, thrives in many nature preserves and ranches in North America.
