Markhor, a goat native to Central Asia and the Himalayas, possess a distinctive corkscrew horn shape. These horns are why it’s often referred to as the screw-horned goat. Shoulder heights on these goats range from 26 to 45 inches, and they have body lengths in the 52-to-73-inch range. They can weigh anywhere from about 70 lbs. to up to 240 lbs.
In addition to their noteworthy corkscrew horns, the males also possess long throat, chest, chin and shank hair. Male horns can reach a massive 60+ inches in length while female horns generally don’t grow beyond 10 inches. Males also have a unique pungent odor that puts domestic goats to shame.
